District Overview:

Overview of the Malden Public Schools: The Malden Public Schools (MPS) is a richly diverse school district located within the Greater Boston area and accessible by the MBTA orange line train.  Malden’s student body comprises approximately 6,800 students who represent 59 different countries and speak 67 different languages. Therapeutic Special Education Teacher: (RISE)

  • Ability to develop and implement effective individualized instructional plans developed in accordance with the goals and objectives on the student’s IEP.
  • Has a thorough knowledge of the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and uses these frameworks effectively in the development of curriculum instruction.
  • Has a thorough working knowledge of assessment strategies and uses this knowledge in an ongoing manner to effectively plan from day to day.
  • Collects ongoing data and understands the need for thorough and instructive documentation
  • Readily shares this relevant information with other team members and parents to maximize every possible learning opportunity for the child.
  • Has an understanding and a desire to use a participative classroom management model that effectively involves all the stakeholders in the process of planning and implementation.
  • Understands the concept of “collaboration” and uses the science of this concept effectively in managing the classroom and instruction.
  • Has a thorough knowledge of the part clinical support services play in all the overall education of these students and is able to effectively integrate support services into the planning and delivery of instruction on a daily basis.
  • Strives in every way to create and maintain a safe, nurturing environment for every student
  • Provides training, supervision and support for paraprofessionals
  • Candidates must be able to work with students with significantly challenging Internalizing and Externalizing emotions combining behavioral approaches through a therapeutic lens.

Qualifications:

  • MA DESE License in Moderate Disabilities and SEI-Teacher Endorsement
  • Experience with Autism and/or Therapeutic settings
  • Experience with conducting assessments and evaluations
