Malden High School is a vibrant and diverse high school, committed to providing all students with grade level, engaging, affirming and meaninful learning experiences. As an urban school, it is our great pride to value and support our diverse community.  

We are among the leaders in Advanced Placement courses in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.  As a result of the data collected, we have focused on improving the transition from middle school to high school, as well as establishing a vision for MHS and its students as they move through high school and prepare for college and career. We have also continued our work to help us move towards increasing our Student Growth Percentile (SGP) in ELA and Math MCAS.


Malden High School also offers a wide variety of enrichment opportunities for students, including division 1 varsity, junior varsity, and freshman level athletics, robust theater, choral, and band programs, and over 70 clubs and organizations. 

 

Qualifications:

  • DESE licensed in World Language: Spanish 9-12 required
  • SEI Teacher Endorsement required
  • Bachelor's degree in Spanish or a related field (Master's degree preferred)

Responsibilities:

  1. Curriculum Implementation: Design and implement dynamic Spanish language curriculum aligned with the 2021 World Languages Curriculum Framework.

  2. Instructional Planning: Develop engaging lesson plans that cater to diverse learning styles, ensuring students are challenged while experiencing productive struggle and follow district curriculum Program of Studies.

  3. Differentiated Instruction: Tailor instruction to meet the diverse needs of students, employing various teaching strategies to address different learning styles and abilities.
  4. Assessment and Evaluation: Utilize a variety of formative and summative assessments to evaluate student progress, providing timely and constructive feedback.

  5. Proficiency Monitoring: Regularly assess and monitor students' proficiency levels, adjusting instruction to meet individual needs and promote language acquisition.
  6. Cultural Competency: Infuse cultural competence into language instruction, promoting an appreciation for the diversity of the Spanish-speaking world.

  7. Student Affirmation: Create a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere that affirms students' identities, backgrounds, and contributions.

  8. Seal of Biliteracy Support: Provide guidance and support to students aiming for the Seal of Biliteracy, assisting them in meeting the necessary language proficiency requirements.

  9. Technology Integration: Seamlessly integrate technology into lessons, enhancing language acquisition through innovative tools and resources.

  10. Collaboration: Collaborate with colleagues within the World Languages Department and across disciplines to enhance interdisciplinary connections and foster a supportive educational community.

  11. Professional Development: Engage in ongoing professional development opportunities to stay current with language education trends, methodologies, and best practices.

Salary: Commensurate with Malden Public Schools’ teacher salary schedule Unit A.
