Overview of the Malden Public Schools:
The Malden Public Schools (MPS) is a richly diverse school district located within the Greater Boston area and accessible by the MBTA orange line train. Malden’s student body comprises approximately 6,800 students who represent 59 different countries and speak 67 different languages. We have 1 early learning center, 5 K-8 schools, and 1 high school. Responsibilities:
- Evaluate students across the district providing a comprehensive assessment of cognitive, social-emotional and behavioral needs, as part of an interdisciplinary team.
- Provide comprehensive evaluation reports in accordance with federal and state guidelines, including specific recommendations for teachers and parents,
- Present finding at team meetings and actively participate as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding of special education eligibility categories and criteria,
- Assist school-based Student Assistance Teams through the utilization of Response-to-Intervention (RTI),
- Provide crisis counseling as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Completion of a master’s degree or higher in school psychology approved by the National Association of School Psychologists, doctorate preferred, as well as experience working with children.
- Possession of MA DESE school psychologist license,
- Experience with special education processes and eligibility guidelines,
- Experience in evaluating second language learners,
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including strong public speaking skills,
- Spanish/Bilingual candidates preferred
Salary: Commensurate with Malden Public Schools’ teacher salary schedule
